Enhanced Connections Scenario
The Enhanced Connections Scenario maintains and improves the existing transportation network rather than creating new routes or additional vehicular capacity. The Enhanced Connections scenario includes smaller connectivity projects, such as closing trail gaps, establishing greenways, and completing intersection improvements. This scenario is more closely tied to a strategic approach to growth that focuses more density inward and takes advantage of opportunities for infill development.
Examples of projects assigned to this scenario include widening and reconfiguring Ron’s River Trail, neighborhood greenway projects, and projects that improve intersection safety, such as crossing improvements, multimodal signals, and roundabouts. The Enhanced Connections scenario also includes four new projects to enhance existing bike routes with protected bicycle lanes and intersection treatments.
This scenario helps to provide new travel options, encouraging people to make trips in ways other than driving alone. It increases access to jobs, schools, parks, and services and provides greater sustainability benefits than the other scenarios.
